Information Design class 2008/2/19:
Question: Find one graph/visualization you like and write a short paragraph blog post on why& how.
This graph i find in gapminder.org is about World Education in 2000, i like it because it’s very interesting. This graph tells about amounts of GDP per capita to average education (school life expectancy in years). From this graph, you could see huge difference between advanced countries and non advanced countries.
The red circles that are in the chart are Asian countries, from this you could see the some countries’ people take 12-13 years on their education(ex:China,Thailand,Indonesia, and Malaysia…etc). But Japan, also belong to Asia, take more years in education than other red countries. This shown that Japan have more GDP that support citizens to learn and have more years of education.
The dark blue circles that are in the chart are European countries. You could see most European countries get more money to support their citizen to have more years of education (except some countries like Turkey, Bulgaria, and Iran…etc which having 10-13 years of education.) Other advanced countries like England, France, Italy , and German, get more than 20,000 dollars to support on their citizens’ education.
The American(green) countries mostly have more years and money to support on education(except Latin America).
Africa having worst result than any other countries, their GDP don’t have enough money to support on their years of education, most people in Africa work every day and every time. From the result we could easily how GDP effect the education of people in each countries
